Sash from Sash & Em

I run a blog with my best friend, Em - we love Young Adult literature.

Firelight - Sophie Jordan Firelight is a story about a girl who is descended from dragons; (DRAGONS, people. How COOL is that?!) but it's also a story about a girl trying to figure out who she is in the world. It's a story about identity. And any time a novel deals with the theme of identity, I always love it. And I love Firelight.

I will say that I was slightly ticked off at Jacinda's sister Tamra and their mother because they seemed so not-understanding of Jacinda. They were trying to make Jacinda change who she was, and I was not down with that! For the most part, I really liked Jacinda. The only time I had a real issue with her was when she was describing the ways that both Cassian and Will looked at her. Ahem, excuse me Jacinda..how can two boys BOTH look at you "hungrily" but one is "hot and sexy" and the other one is "creepy". In that aspect, I guess I saw her true teenage-ness.

Firelight had everything that I was really wanting from a book. It had likeable characters. It had the connection between the two loved ones. It had unrequited love. It had family love. It had an AWESOME plot that had me on the edge of my seat.

If you're looking for a fun, action-packed read then go pick up a copy of Firelight!
